As part of the BLUMI-MED project activities, the Royal Scientific Society (RSS), Jordan, organized a Multi-Actor Approach (MAA) Workshop entitled "The Urban Market in Madaba: Reality and Challenges" in collaboration with the Greater Madaba Municipality on 6th July 2026.
The workshop brought together approximately 22 representatives from key stakeholder groups in the Madaba urban market, including the Greater Madaba Municipality, the Agriculture Directorate, the Jordan Food and Drug Administration, the Chamber of Commerce, the market investor, NGOs, market vendors, and consumers.
During the workshop, participants identified the key challenges facing the Madaba urban market and prioritized them through an individual voting exercise. Thematic group discussions then explored four main dimensions of market sustainability: regulatory framework, infrastructure, products, and innovation & development. In addition, participants reviewed and validated the Integrated Local Urban Market Sustainability Assessment (IMSA) criteria through group voting.
At the workshop's closing, participants filled out the relevant questionnaire and provided feedback and recommendations for future improvements.
