BLUMI-MED Holds First Multi-Actor Workshop in Algeria to Identify Urban Market Challenges

The first BLUMI-MED multi-actor workshop took place in Algiers, bringing together key stakeholders to identify the primary challenges facing the selected local urban market. The workshop also supported the validation of sustainability indicators within the Integrated Local Urban Market Sustainability Assessment (IMSA) framework, strengthening the project's collaborative approach to sustainable market development.

Within the framework of the PRIMA BLUMI-Med project, the CREAD team (Research Center in Applied Economics for Development – Algeria) organized the first multi-actor workshop, titled “Key Challenges,” on May 20 in Algiers, the project’s study area. The objective of this workshop was to identify the main challenges related to the selected local urban market in the study area, as well as to classify and validate the sustainability indicators included in the Integrated Local Urban Market Sustainability Assessment (IMSA) framework.

This workshop brought together representatives of the main stakeholders, including the Ministry of Commerce, the Municipal Authority (APC), the National Chamber of Agriculture, the wholesale market, the Directorate of Commerce, market representatives, consumers, and market vendors.
